What defines an online shop?
Some online shops are very simple and allow customers to complete a simple form and submit an order. Some can also allow your customers to pay online (in part or in full, depending on what you are selling) thus improving your cash flow and generating sales immediately.

Other shops require various degrees of functionality to allow customers to browse using a shopping cart/trolley analogy, adding products and going to the checkout to pay. This is what most people think of when they think about an online shop

Online Payment
To take online payment you need to get a third party involved: someone who is or can act as an 'online bank account'. This can be done via a regular bank such as RBS who provide a service called Worldpay or you can use an external party such as SagePay (formerly Protx), SecPay, Nochex or countless others.
